The Winster valley is behind Whitbarrow and Town End nestles under Whitbarrow on the side of the valley. The top of Whitbarrow contains protected limestone pavement and many species of wild life.

  • ‘Whitbarrow’ is an Alpaca Fingering weight yarn.  We have combined alpaca with Merino wool and silk to produce a Fingering knitting yarn in an exclusive blend which has been spun for us in the UK.  This luxurious Fingering weight knitting wool is a blend of 45% Peruvian baby alpaca, 35% superfine, organic Falklands Merino wool and 20% Mulberry silk.

Whitbarrow Alpaca fingering yarn has been dyed in the Scottish Borders in a wide range of solid colours.   Charcoal is a very dark grey colour.

This yarn is super-soft and is ideal for knitting shawls, scarves.  It is light-weight yet cozy and is great for knitting tops that you will wear next to your skin.

This yarn knits to Fingering or Sock weight knitting patterns, (but always knit a tension swatch).  There are approximately 400m per 100g.  The yarn is sold in 100g hanks.  If you would like us to ball your yarn for you, please make a note on the order.
