Poldale Silk is available in one natural shade.  85% Falklands Corriedale/Polwarth wool, 15% Mulberry silk.

Gentle handwash or use the wool cycle of your machine with a small amount of non-bio detergent.  Dry flat and do not tumble dry.

Poldale Silk 4ply Yarn – Silver Grey

‘Poldale Silk ‘ is a 4ply weight knitting yarn made by Wooltops.  There’s lots of twist in the yarn to make it more hardwearing for knitting socks,  This yarn is also suitable for garments and accessories.

The wool comes from the Falklands from Corriedale sheep which have been crossed with Polwarth for additional softness – hence ‘Poldale’.  Some darker fibres have been blended to give a natural silvery grey with a subtle marled effect.  15% mulberry silk has been blended which gives the yarn a sheen.

Poldale Silk is available in one natural shade.

This yarn knits to 4ply, Sock or Fingering weight knitting patterns, (but always knit a tension swatch).  A typical needle size for stocking stitch is 3.5 to 3.75 mm needles.  There are approximately 400m per 100g and the yarn is sold in 100g hanks.  If you would like us to wind the hanks into balls for you, plesae make a note on your order.

  • ‘Cumbria’ is an alpaca and wool sock yarn.  It is our own blend of 47% British alpaca, 43% Blue Faced Leicester wool and 10% nylon.

    Cumbria Alpaca Sock yarn is available in its natural oatmeal and eight over-dyed shades which give depth to the yarn.

    This yarn knits to Sock, Fingering weight or light 4 ply knitting patterns, (but always knit a tension swatch).  There are approximately 400m per 100g.  The yarn is sold in 100g hanks.

    Whitbarrow Alpaca fingering yarn has been dyed in the Scottish Borders in a wide range of solid colours.

    This yarn is super-soft and is ideal for knitting shawls, scarves.  It is light-weight yet cozy and is great for knitting tops that you will wear next to your skin.

    This yarn knits to 4ply, Sock or Fingering weight knitting patterns, (but always knit a tension swatch).  A typical needle size for stocking stitch is 3.5 to 3.75 mm needles.  There are approximately 200m per 50g and the yarn is sold in 50g balls.

    This fibre has been Superwash treated, so you may wash it in the wool cycle of your machine with a small amount of non-bio detergent.  Do not tumble dry.

  • ‘Somerset’ is an alpaca and wool sock yarn.  It is our own blend of 50% British alpaca with 50% soft, fine Blue Faced Leicester wool.

    Somerset Sock yarn is available in its natural oatmeal grey and nine organically over-dyed shades which give depth to the yarn.
