Alpaca yarn and blends may be hand washed in warm water or washed in the special wool cycle (with the Woolmark symbol) of your washing machine. Do not add too much detergent to the machine as this may cause felting. Alpaca does not felt or shrink as readily as wool. However like wool, if it is subjected to dramatic changes in water temperature or rubbed rather than squeezed, it will eventually felt.

Always dry flat, away from direct heat. Do not tumble dry.

We hand dye some yarns using safe, colour fast acid dyes. These have been thoroughly rinsed after dyeing, but you may find a slight tinge to the water on your first wash. For this reason, we recommend washing hand-dyed items, particularly darker colours, separately in hand hot water.
