We’re going to Festiwool in Hitchin on 10 November
Festiwool in Hitchin
We have a stall at Festiwool 2018 which is at the Hitchin Grammar School on 10 November. We will be bringing yarns and patterns, but probably won’t have enough room for socks as well.
Alpaca Dress Socks – some new stock in
If you have been waiting for the small Alpaca Dress Sock in Sage Green or the medium in Royal Blue, some have just arrived from the knitters.
We’ll be at Woolfest on 22-23 June
Woolfest is the Original British Festival of Wool
Arbon Socks is sharing a stand with Town End Yarns at Woolfest which is held in Mitchell’s Lakeland Livestock Centre, Cockermouth, Cumbria. We will be bring our full range of socks as well as our luxury alpaca knitting yarns.
New Whitbarrow colours for 2018
Some wonderful new colours have landed here at Town End from the dyer in Scotland. They range from bright Ivy green to the more subtle Lady’s Smock. We now have 29 different Whitbarrow shades to choose from. This fingering weight yarn is blended from alpaca, Merino and silk and is perfect for knitting up shawls, scarves, lightweight cardigans and tops.
We have tons of work ahead, washing it all, winding it into 100g hanks and labelling up. Look up the Whitbarrow yarn on the products page & I challenge you, with that many different ones, to not be able to find a colour to get knitting with!

UK Wool Alpaca Sock Yarn
UK Wool Alpaca Sock Yarn now in web shop
Our new No-Nylon Blue Faced Leicester and Alpaca Sock Weight Yarn
This No-Nylon UK wool and alpaca sock yarn is a soft, bouncy blend of 90% Blue Faced Leicester wool and 10% alpaca. We buy the fine Blue Faced Leicester wool from farms around Cumbria and the Yorkshire Dales. The alpaca fleece is purchased from breeders in the UK and the fleeces are sorted and blended on our farm in Cumbria. The fleece is scoured in Yorkshire before being spun for us in Cornwall. The yarn is then dyed in small batches on the farm. So, this yarn is 100% grown, spun and dyed in Britain.
We Are Exhibiting At Edinburgh Yarn Festival
EDINBURGH YARN FESTIVAL
We have joined the exhibitors at this years Edinburgh Yarn Festival. The event runs from Friday 10 March to Saturday 11 March in the Corn Exchange, Edinburgh. This is a busy, urban show, very different to the more rural shows we go to in auction marts and very focused on yarn.

The Natural Knitter in Northallerton now stocks my yarns.
A new Town End Alpaca Yarns stockist
Last week, I had a trip out to North Yorkshire and made my first delivery to The Natural Knitter Wool Shop in Northallerton. Caz and her group of knitters had bought some of my yarns on their weekend away at Woolfest and so she contacted me to arrange to stock them.
As well as selling a wide range of knitting yarns focused on natural fibres, Caz individually designs and makes models of hares from felted fibres and teaches needle felting.
The shop now stocks the range of Town End Pure Natural Alpaca, Alpaca with Shetland and Alpaca with Merino and Silk yarns as well as True Brit knit and Town End Designs printed patterns.
Yew Tree Barn Christmas Fair
Our final event of 2016 is the Christmas fair at Yew Tree Barn. These vast, old barns off the A590 in High Newton, are beautifully decorated for Christmas and will be full of great gifts. Last year, the event was severely impacted by the Cumbrian floods as the roads around were closed by flood water. This year the fair will be open from Friday afternoon on 2 December through to Sunday 4 December.
